Lara Margaret Marjerrison is a freedom fighter on a quest to liberate the voiceless, beaten down, and bound using the sacred power of stories. Through her workshops, talks, poetry, and performance, she helps people tap into the unlimited power of words to heal from harm so they can show up as their whole selves, fully present and grounded in their power. Ultimately, all her work is about connection, because she knows that when we connect, we care, and when we care, we take better care...of ourselves, of others, and of the world around us.

HELP FUND MY LITERARY RESEARCH TRIP TO ORKNEY
I'm currently working on new creative projects, one of which is a historical fiction novel that traces my Balfour ancestry back to the Scottish Highlands and Orkney Islands, where the story will take place—that's Balfour Castle in Shapinsay, Orkney in the image to the right.
This work will require extensive research and I need your help to fund the trip that will allow me to undertake that research.
I'm also seeking grant funding from Canada Council for the Arts to support the creation of this work. But, I cannot rely on grant funding alone, and there is no guarantee it will be awarded.
Every donation will get me closer to birthing new literary works into the world and sharing them with you.
I just finished reading grief & loss & love & sex cover to cover. It's achingly beautiful.

Lara's words and works are inspiring and sometimes come to me exactly when I need them. Following her is always challenging and fruitful.

grief & loss & love & sex is more than a book of poetry. It is a laying bare of the soul, a finding of truths, a search for light. It is a quick read, and it is a book I don’t think I will ever stop reading...I highly encourage you to check out this book.

"I couldn’t put this book down. Raw, honest and beautifully written. Marjerrison talks so openly and honestly about her grief and I couldn’t stop reading her poems because she gave words to feelings I could never describe. Succinct, heartbreaking, inspiring.. and what it means to be human" ~Cathy
